About The Position

The Senior Research Analyst is a full-time professional position responsible for delivering high-quality research, determining the overall strategy for effectively creating targeted pools of highly-rated prospects in the range of $100,000 to $100,000,000+ to support fundraising efforts that raise over $100 million annually and conduct high-level research and analysis on those prospects. The position will have liaison responsibilities for a group of school-based and regional development officers whose focus is on securing gifts commitments in the range of $100,000 and above for university and school priorities. Additionally, this position may provide guidance to members of the research staff and initiates special research projects or analyses to help meet specific university fundraising objectives. The position will collaborate with gift officers, special programs, and alumni relations staff throughout the Office of Advancement and continue researching for the campaign.

Requirements

Bachelors degree required
Minimum of two years direct research, development or transferable experience required. Transferable experience includes: database management, records management, prospect research and/or direct major gift fundraising.
Demonstrated understanding of major gifts fundraising and/or portfolio management
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated superior analytical and research skills, including internet search capability.
Strong experience in MS Office, including MS Word, Access, and Excel, or similar programs.
Excellent organizational skills required including the ability to manage multiple activities, demands, and/or projects simultaneously, while maintaining a high degree of effectiveness, a spirit of collaboration, and positive attitude.
Demonstrated initiative and self-starting capacity.
Ability to work independently and within a team structure.
Ability to prioritize, and work efficiently and effectively with minimum supervision.
Demonstrated ability to pay attention to detail and keep projects on task, meeting and exceeding timeline expectations.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information and material in a discretionary manner.

Responsibilities

Develops donor pool by identifying prospects and conducting detailed research on prospective donors using advanced on-line databases, internet resources, in- house files and data, library, and other references.
Analyzes, interprets, organizes, and distributes financial, biographical, and historical information on individual donors, corporations, and foundations, based on fundraising strategies and objectives.
Collaborates with development officers to develop prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation, and overall fundraising strategies, based on research and analysis of data and information.
Ensure compliance with prospect management policies and procedures while maintaining integrity of the portfolio management system.
Demonstrate a solid, detailed knowledge of the university’s prospect pool, portfolio management business processes, and the proper use and function of prospect information in the database.
Recommend changes that enhance innovation and further the goals of prospect management.
Lead prospect management system orientation/training for assigned liaison areas.
Use data visualization techniques required to analyze and describe groups of prospects or constituents.
Manage the planning and execution of projects related to analysis of fundraising portfolios.
Provide advancement leadership with analysis on overall portfolio movement, health, and viability.
Manage and maintain the pipeline of planned, pending, and closed solicitations for liaison areas.
Enter and maintain prospect record data in database.
Compiles and synthesizes data and information into written reports and oversees appropriate dissemination.
Works with Advancement Services to create and update a suite of reports that provide basic biographical information and can be used in preparing officers and leadership to attend events and meetings with donors.
