About The Position

This role involves organizing engineering deliverables during program execution, resolving engineering development issues, and participating in the development of a major global architecture. The engineer will support various reviews, including design study reviews, DDR, Health Check Reviews, and Cost and Mass reviews. They will also be involved in SMT Quality Plan development, SMT staffing plans, and balancing SMT Imperative targets for cost, investment, mass, and quality. The position requires participation in resolving cross-SMT issues and program initiatives such as localized sourcing, cost & mass reduction, and Auros and PRTS closure. Ensuring the completion of the Regulatory Checklist, Manufacturing Requirements (MRs), and DFMEAs on time is crucial. The role also includes managing SMT engineering impact responses for Change Requests (CRs), ensuring subsystem interface documents are in place, and preparing the SMT for build events. Coaching and mentoring Design Release Engineers is a key responsibility, as is representing the SMT in PET, VAPIR, and VPIT meetings, leading SMT topics, and supporting DREs in presenting issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study
  • Eight (8) years of experience as a Thermal Engineer, Vehicle Systems Engineer, Automotive Interior Engineer, Automotive Exterior Engineer, or related role.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with Engineering operations, processes, and best practices.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with Engineering theory and principles of design.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with GVDP timing and key engineering milestones.
  • Five (5) years of experience with Specification and Release terms and systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience with TIPIE and BVAC systems and integration to other SMTs.

Responsibilities

  • Organize the status of overall engineering deliverables during program execution.
  • Resolve math, build and test issues related to engineering development.
  • Participate in the development of a major global architecture through execution (Pre-AFI through VPI).
  • Support design study reviews and issue resolution, Design Direction Reviews (DDR), Health Check Reviews, Cost and Mass “deep dive” reviews, SMT Quality Plan development and execution, and SMT staffing plans in support of program.
  • Manage SMT Imperative target status and balancing for cost, investment, mass, quality.
  • Participate in resolution of issues that span across different SMTs.
  • Participate in program initiatives including localized sourcing, cost & mass reduction, Auros and PRTS closure.
  • Ensure the Regulatory Checklist is complete and all Manufacturing Requirements (MRs) and DFMEAs are in-place and agreed to on-time.
  • Participate in SMT engineering impact responses for Change Requests (CRs) including headcount impacts and GVDP gate readiness status and reviews.
  • Ensure subsystem interface documents are in place on time and agreed to on time.
  • Ensure the SMT is build ready for all upcoming events.
  • Coach and mentor Design Release Engineers.
  • Serve as SMT representative in PET, VAPIR and VPIT meetings where they will lead the SMT topics and support DREs presenting issues in these meetings.
