About The Position

As an Advanced Turbomachinery Aerodynamics Engineer here at Honeywell, you will join the industry leader to design the next generation of breakthrough technologies. You will be part of a team responsible for the aerodynamic design, simulation, analysis and test of fans and compressors (FanC) in gas turbine engine (turbomachinery) applications within Honeywell Aerospace Engines and Power Systems. You will support currently fielded products and contribute towards development of new products for a variety of turbofan, turboshaft and auxiliary power unit (APU) applications. You will also apply principles of design, physics, mathematics and software development to perform a broad variety of engineering tasks. In this role, you will contribute to continuous improvement of design, analysis and simulation methods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics PhD, or 2+ years’ experience with a M.S., or 4+ years’ experience with a B.S.
  • 3 or more years of combined experience with ANSYS CFX, ANSYS FLUENT, Simcenter STAR-CCM+ or an equivalent CFD software
  • 1 or more years of e xperience with MATLAB, Python or C++ scripting or equivalent
  • U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD or M.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery test methodologies such as strain gages, light probes and kulites
  • Experience with AI/ML, adjoint optimization, surrogate modeling and multidisciplinary optimization within the gas turbine engine domain
  • Familiarity w/ manufacturing methods and field support of gas turbine engines
  • Problem solving proficiency w/ root cause analysis (RCCA) experience
  • CAD modeling experience (e.g. NX, UG, Solidworks, CATIA)
  • Strong writing, speaking and presenting skills

Responsibilities

  • Perform activities related to aerodynamic design and analysis of rotating and static turbomachinery components such as rotors, stators, blisks, disks and impellers
  • Evaluate parameters such as performance, pressure ratio, mass flow, efficiency and surge margin with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a core responsibility
  • Support testing of components and engine modules in various lifecycle stages (rig, development, production) and perform data reduction/analysis on test data
  • Generate documentation capturing engineering results and findings following design, simulation, analysis and test activities
  • Create and present engineering artifacts during structured design reviews
  • Participate in technical mentoring, process/tool improvement and knowledge capture efforts
