About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking an Advanced Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team. This role involves leading in the diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining of medium and heavy Class 7 & 8 trucks. The technician will need a deep mechanical understanding, sound judgment, and the ability to lead by example while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. The daily focus will be on ensuring precise, efficient, and lasting repairs, while also serving as a mentor and technical resource for other technicians. The role involves analyzing complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions, determining repair strategies, and executing repairs or rebuilds on major systems. A key aspect of the role is supporting customers by maximizing uptime and ensuring trucks are back on the road quickly, safely, and correctly the first time. The technician will work alongside other trained technicians in a well-supported shop environment.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Self-motivation and assertiveness.
  • Ability to work under little or no supervision.
  • Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
  • Must provide own tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
  • Cummins and MX software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining medium and heavy Class 7 & 8 trucks.
  • Leading by example in upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
  • Ensuring truck repairs are completed with precision, efficiency, and lasting quality.
  • Serving as a mentor and technical resource for other technicians.
  • Analyzing complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions.
  • Determining the best repair strategy.
  • Executing repairs or rebuilds on major systems including engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.
  • Supporting customers by maximizing uptime and getting trucks back on the road quickly, safely, and correctly the first time.
