About The Position

Pape’ Kenworth, a premier medium and heavy-duty truck and equipment dealer in the West, is seeking an Advanced Truck Technician / Mechanic to join their team. This role involves leading in the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of medium and heavy Class 7 & 8 trucks. The technician will need a deep mechanical understanding, sound judgment, and the ability to lead by example while upholding high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. Daily tasks include ensuring precision, efficiency, and lasting quality in truck repairs, mentoring other technicians, analyzing complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions, determining repair strategies, and executing repairs or rebuilds on major systems. The role is key in supporting customers by maximizing uptime and ensuring trucks are back on the road quickly, safely, and correctly.

Requirements

5 or more years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty class 7/8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic trouble-shooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
Basic computer knowledge.
Self-motivation and assertiveness.
Ability to work under little or no supervision.
Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
Must provide own tools.

Nice To Haves

Kenworth Essentials certifications preferred.
Cummins and MX software experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining medium and heavy Class 7 & 8 trucks.
Leading by example while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.
Ensuring every truck repair is completed with precision, efficiency, and lasting quality.
Serving as a mentor and technical resource for other technicians in the shop.
Analyzing complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions.
Determining the best repair strategy.
Executing repairs or rebuilds on major systems including engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.
Supporting customers by maximizing uptime and getting trucks back on the road quickly, safely, and correctly the first time.
