About The Position

The Advanced Tooling Engineer works as part of a launch team, following die tooling and gages from the quoting phase through production. The role ensures part specifications and deadlines are met to support successful assembly builds and deliver 100% quality stampings to customers. The position is based at Challenge Manufacturing’s corporate office/plant in Walker, Michigan, and is scheduled for first shift, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least six years of experience in tool and die build/design, sheet metal stamping, or equivalent education and experience.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

Support the creation of GD&T.
Coordinate tool design, tool build, tool design reviews, sample requirements, part-layout reviews, ordering tryout steel, and archiving tool CAD data.
Create statements of work (SOWs) and obtain signed SOWs from suppliers.
Follow tooling and component gages from purchase order through home-line buyoff and beyond.
Complete approvals and check sheets before tooling or gages are shipped, ensuring Challenge specifications are met.
Support pre-source meetings with selected suppliers and verify quotes before release.
Provide release-level data and GD&T to selected suppliers.
Maintain tooling project schedules by reviewing die-shop and gage-shop schedules and timelines to ensure due dates are met.
Track weekly open issues and ensure they are closed in a timely manner.
Verify and report part quality throughout each program build requirement, driving parts to nominal.
Attend weekly open-issues meetings to report die and gage status, including timing, change levels, part quality, and build-event status.
