Advanced Step Apprentice/ Journeyman Gas Technician - Montrose, Minnesota
About The Position
Xcel Energy is seeking one or more Advanced Step Apprentice Gas Technicians/Journeyman Gas Technicians to join their team at the Montrose Service Center in Montrose, Minnesota. This role involves a variety of tasks related to natural gas system maintenance and repair, including district regulator maintenance, odorization, meter testing, instrument calibration, meter and large regulator sizing/maintenance/installation, plastic pipe fusion, service regulators, operational surveys, customer priority work, fitting, equipment operation, and responding to gas leak investigations and emergencies. The position requires the successful applicant to reside within 20 miles of the Montrose Service Center and is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing, residency requirements, and on-call duty. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Class A commercial driver's license (must meet driver qualification requirements as specified in FMCSR Parts 382 and 391)
- Three or more years Gas Construction and/or Gas service experience
- Ability to lift 50 pounds safely
- Must reside within 20 mi of the service center.
- Must Meet Operator Qualification requirements.

- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships in a team-oriented environment
- Direct customer contact experience desirable
- Pass the Gas Respirator Qualification test
