About The Position

Pearson Professional Assessments is looking for an Advanced Specialist, Legal Counsel/Contract Management to join its legal team, supporting the Certiport and e-commerce businesses. In this role, you will act as a key legal partner across the organisation, working closely with internal stakeholders, external clients, vendors, and third parties to ensure contracts are structured, negotiated, and executed effectively. You will play a critical role in safeguarding Pearson’s legal interests, while enabling commercial outcomes through strong contract strategy, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in contract drafting, negotiation, and legal risk analysis within a commercial environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across functions.
  • Experience working with technology-related agreements, including software or licensing contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, working across legal, business, and operational teams.
  • Solid understanding of legal compliance and corporate legal policies.
  • Experience supporting vendor, client, and third-party contractual relationships.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, or equivalent experience in contract management or legal support.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, including legal document formatting.
  • Experience reviewing contracts, statements of work (SOWs), amendments, and legal correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with government contracting processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of a broad range of agreements, including customer contracts, vendor agreements, and software and technology agreements.
  • Ensure all contracts align with legal and regulatory requirements while proactively identifying and mitigating risk.
  • Partner with internal teams to gather key inputs and support the preparation of legal documentation.
  • Monitor business practices to ensure ongoing compliance with contractual and legal obligations.
  • Apply current legal developments to evolving business needs and contract structures.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and senior legal leadership.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel, clients, vendors, and third parties.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively during negotiations and legal discussions.
  • Support legal research initiatives and contribute to projects in emerging areas of law.
  • Maintain, organise, and improve legal templates, agreements, and documentation processes.
