About The Position

Turner Industries is seeking an experienced Certified Advanced Rigger for maintenance work in the Old Ocean, TX area. Relocation and per diem are not available for this position; candidates must be local to the area. This is a 5-8's work schedule, and candidates must be able to work overtime and callouts as needed, with the schedule subject to change. NCCER Advanced Rigging and/or NCCCO Level I & II are highly preferred.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Knowledge of all types of slings/chokers
  • Must ensure all rigging hardware and slings meet the company quarterly inspection criteria
  • Written pre-employment qualification test
  • Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in workplace

Nice To Haves

  • NCCER Advanced Rigging and/or NCCCO Level I & II are highly preferred
  • Some job sites may require NCCER certification for this craft

Responsibilities

  • Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material on maintenance and construction projects.
  • Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved.
  • Attaches pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures, such as beams, ceilings and gin pole booms, with bolts and clamps.
  • Attaches load to crane hook with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes and chains.
  • Gives directions to equipment operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads.
  • Ensures the safety of workers and material handlers using hand signals, loudspeaker or telephone.
  • Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment.
  • Splices rope and wire to repair slings and tackles.
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting of machinery and equipment into ships, railroad cars or trucks.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
