Function as an Advanced Practice Nurse and change agent incorporating the primary role of Nurse Practitioner and the supporting roles of consultant, educator, researcher, and administrator to deliver high-quality care and positive patient outcomes for adult Gastroenterology patients across outpatient clinics and infusion services at our Urbandale, Iowa location. Practice independently and collaboratively in accordance with licensure, scope of practice, and collaborative agreements. Support daily operational workflow and quality initiatives within the Infusion Suite within our Iowa Healthcare Urbandale, Iowa site. Provide direct patient care for infusion therapies, including biologic and monoclonal antibody infusions. Collaborate with prescribing providers to develop, implement, and oversee infusion and Beacon care plans. Act as a liaison between the Infusion Suite, providers, nursing staff, and patients. Assist with prior authorization appeals and infusion-related clinical documentation. Provide education and serve as a resource for infusion nursing staff. May be asked to assist with supporting procedure suite operation in the future as needed. Provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients/families. Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate appropriate health reports for outgoing correspondence. Initiate and coordinate referrals to other health care team members or agencies. Serve in a consultative resource capacity by providing expert knowledge and behavioral skills that impact clinical practice and patient outcomes. Participate in the development, utilization and evaluation of resources to meet patient/family educational needs. Provide education and serve as a resource for nursing staff in area of clinical expertise. Provide education to external agencies, community and other health professionals. Generate research questions regarding health care for particular patient populations. Incorporate research findings into practice. Participate in development and implementation of divisional and departmental quality Assessment/improvement/research programs and processes. Responsible for administrative activities and special projects as assigned. Contribute toward the achievement of divisional and departmental goals. Participate and contribute to activities that enhance clinical expertise and nursing knowledge. Participate in professional nursing activities in the department, hospital, community and professional organizations. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public. Establish and maintain standards of collaborative interaction among peers and employees that is characterized by respect, honesty and service; assure that all unit members are held to similar standards and ethics; constructively manages conflict.
