About The Position

Honeywell Aerospace is hiring an Advanced Project Engineer to lead the technical planning and execution of development and research and development (RDE) projects. The role works closely with program management to manage engineering budgets, schedules, deliverables, resources, risks, and cost and schedule baselines. It develops and maintains project planning materials and supports estimates at completion, baseline change requests, variance reports, and resource requests. The engineer leads an integrated, cross-functional team and manages an RF subsystem development effort spanning RF design, mechanical design, manufacturing, integration and test, and subsystem engineering. The position provides technical direction, leads trade studies and design reviews, resolves anomalies, and interfaces with executive staff, program management leadership, and customers. It translates customer requirements into hardware and software specifications and ensures delivered systems meet customer requirements and technical, schedule, and cost constraints. The role also supports bids by identifying risk-mitigation tasks. The position is based in San Diego, California, with a hybrid schedule of three onsite days and two remote days after 90 days. Candidates must meet U.S. Person requirements due to export control laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Five years of previous engineering experience.
  • Expertise in RF/microwave subsystem design and working knowledge of related simulation, modeling, and verification techniques.
  • Experience working in a project-based environment, including familiarity with basic project tools such as schedule and financial management applications.
  • Knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques for solving complex professional tasks.
  • Negotiating skills, commercial proficiency, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined for export control purposes: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, person with protected status under asylum or refugee status, or someone able to obtain export authorization.

  • Support maintenance of project schedules, develop and report Estimates at Complete (EAC), and report adherence to cost and schedule baselines.
  • Provide input to baseline change requests and variance reports, and manage resource requests.
  • Develop, build, and manage an integrated multifunction program team with the program manager, representing customer and business technical interests.
  • Manage RF subsystem development across RF design, mechanical design, manufacturing, integration and test, and subsystem engineering.
  • Interface with executive staff and program management leadership on design execution.
  • Provide technical direction, lead trade studies and design reviews, and lead anomaly-resolution teams.
  • Work with program management and other Project Engineers to meet project deliveries and ensure systems meet customer requirements.
  • Perform functional and timeline analyses, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Provide regular metrics to validate and support customer SDRLs.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface with the customer.
  • Ensure customer or product requirements are systematically converted into total systems solutions that account for technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
