About The Position

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides primary and/or urgent care medical services within the scope of licensure, education, training, national certification, and applicable Texas law. The APRN functions as the primary onsite clinical provider in the Campus Clinic and practices pursuant to a Prescriptive Authority Agreement (PAA) with the Delegating Physician in accordance with Texas Occupations Code Chapter 157 and applicable rules of the Texas Medical Board and Texas Board of Nursing. The APRN collaborates with the Delegating Physician regarding patient management, referral decisions, quality assurance activities, prescribing practices, and clinical protocols. The APRN supervises onsite clinical workflow involving nursing and administrative support staff. The candidate must be a professing Christ follower who possesses a strong commitment to the mission and core values of Southwestern Seminary and Texas Baptist College, possess a clear understanding of Southern Baptist heritage and culture, and agrees to serve in accordance with and not contrary to the current edition of the Baptist Faith and Message. Requirements

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited APRN program.
Current unrestricted Texas APRN license.
Current national board certification appropriate to specialty population.
Current Texas prescriptive authority authorization.
Current DEA registration (if applicable).
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS preferred.
At least 3 years of clinical experience is required.
Knowledge of applicable Texas APRN laws and regulations.
Ability to function independently within delegated authority and clinical protocols.
Strong clinical decision-making and patient communication skills.
Ability to recognize limitations of scope and seek physician consultation appropriately.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
Ability to supervise and coordinate small-clinic workflow effectively.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage.
Strong leadership and initiative; ability to operate with minimal supervision.
Compassionate social skills with a collaborative team approach, and ability to interact effectively with cross-cultural patients.
Ability to provide proof of Work Authorization in the U.S. and proof of identity.
Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.

Nice To Haves

5+ years of clinical experience is preferred.
Experience in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, urgent care, or outpatient practice preferred.
Multiple language speaking abilities in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Mandarin, Korean would be beneficial in our community of international students and families.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the APRN scope of practice.
Obtain comprehensive patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Order, perform, interpret, and document diagnostic studies and laboratory testing.
Develop and implement treatment plans.
Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions pursuant to delegated prescriptive authority and applicable Texas law.
Provide preventive care and patient education.
Recognize conditions requiring physician consultation, referral, or escalation of care.
Initiate emergency response procedures when medically indicated.
Practice pursuant to a written Prescriptive Authority Agreement with the Delegating Physician.
Maintain ongoing communication with the Delegating Physician regarding clinical management issues and patient care concerns.
Participate in required quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
Participate in periodic chart review and monthly meetings with the Delegating Physician as required by Texas law and clinic policy.
Adhere to all clinic protocols, standing orders, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant medical documentation.
Directs the Campus Clinic department by providing leadership and direct managerial oversight to a team of full-time and part-time staff.
Cultivates a proactive, faithful, and healthy office environment that fosters authentic, Christ-honoring relationships through encouragement, support, and mentoring of students, faculty, and staff.
Assist in the hiring and supervising of Campus Clinic Nurse personnel and office staff.
The nurse practitioner will make decisions related to family patient care and education based on guidelines determined by the medical field and in guidance with the supervising/collaborative physician.
Handles health history, Protected Health Information (PHI), Personally Identifiable Information (PII), restricted data, sensitive and confidential information with discretion; abiding by Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance.
Function as the primary onsite clinical provider during assigned clinic hours.
Coordinate clinical workflow with nursing and front office personnel.
Provide clinical guidance to the Registered Nurse (RN) and other clinical staff consistent with scope and licensure.
Assist in maintaining efficient patient flow and operational effectiveness.
Promote a professional, patient-centered clinical environment.
The APRN provides day-to-day clinical coordination and operational direction to: Registered Nurse (RN), Front Office / Patient Services Staff.
