About The Position

UConn Health – Waterbury Hospital is seeking an APRN or PA to join its Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), providing care to critically ill patients in a collaborative, teaching-focused environment alongside physicians, advanced practice providers, and internal medicine residents. Cross-coverage of the Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) may also be required. This is a full-time position with 12-hour shifts, including rotating weekends and holidays.

Requirements

• Master’s or doctoral degree with APRN preparation, or an applicable PA degree.
• Current Connecticut APRN or PA license in good standing.
• National certification in an applicable specialty.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Critical care experience and familiarity with invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
• Experience in a teaching hospital.
• Familiarity with cardiovascular critical care or structural heart services.

Responsibilities

• Assess, treat, and manage critically ill patients.
• Monitor clinical status and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Collaborate with physicians and support resident education.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, care coordination, and discharge planning.
• Assist with bedside procedures, as appropriate to training and privileges.
• Provide CVU cross-coverage.
• Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
