Join Wake County Public Health as a Floating Advanced Practice Provider (APP)! Looking for a role where no two days are the same and your work truly impacts the entire community? Wake County Public Health is seeking a Physician Extender (Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Physician Assistant) to serve as a floating provider across our main clinic and four regional health centers. This unique role offers the opportunity to care for diverse populations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and expand your clinical experience across multiple settings. What You’ll Do: Provide comprehensive care to adults and children across Wake County clinics Deliver services including preventive care, family planning, prenatal care, STI/STD care, and acute illness management Screen, diagnose, and treat patients with a focus on accessible, high-quality public health care Perform clinical procedures (with appropriate training and support) Beyond Patient Care: Mentor and precept NPs, PAs, medical students, and residents Support onboarding and training of new clinical staff Collaborate on the development and improvement of clinical protocols and procedures Additional Details: Schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends Opportunity to support community response during emergency or inclement weather events Why This Role Stands Out: This isn’t just a clinic job, it’s a chance to serve communities across Wake County, build meaningful patient relationships, and play a key role in public health delivery. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.
