About The Position

The West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states, and includes five institutes. WVU Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine seek a full-time (0.9 FTE) Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to practice at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive outpatient clinical care to patients in an emergency medicine capacity and establish preventive health practices for patients. Berkeley Medical Center is a major teaching site for West Virginia University School of Medicine, located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. This community offers the amenities of a large city in a scenic and affordable location, with a rural atmosphere and lower cost of living, and easy accessibility to Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have a PA or NP degree and be eligible for state medical license
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • For Nurse Practitioner: National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • For Nurse Practitioner: CNOR Certification required
  • For Nurse Practitioner: BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department
  • For Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree as Physician Assistant, or Master’s Degree as Physician Assistant required
  • For Physician Assistant: Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required
  • For Physician Assistant: Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required
  • For Physician Assistant: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the PA Board of Medicine
  • For Physician Assistant: BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency medicine/Urgent care experience preferred
  • Eligible new graduates will be considered
