Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Minimum of 1 year of urgent care experience
  • Active DOT certification
  • Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and incision and drainage
  • Confidence interpreting initial digital X-rays and EKGs
  • Ability to manage a broad range of acute illnesses and injuries
  • Strong clinical judgment and comfort working independently
  • Excellent communication skills and a patient-first approach
  • Must hold a current, unrestricted license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the state where the position will be performed. Candidates who do not currently hold state licensure must be actively in the process of obtaining it.
  • Master’s degree required from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nursing program.
  • Nurse Practitioners must be certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Physician Assistants must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current CPR certification required, or willingness to obtain certification prior to start date.
  • DOT certification required, or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
  • Must be comfortable evaluating and managing acute illnesses and injuries in a fast-paced urgent care setting, including procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, incision and drainage, and interpretation of initial digital X-rays and EKGs.
  • Must demonstrate strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, comfort working independently, and a patient-first approach to care.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries across all ages
  • Perform urgent care procedures, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, wound care, and foreign body removal
  • Interpret initial digital X-rays and EKGs
  • Conduct DOT physicals and occupational health-related visits
  • Manage common urgent care presentations, including respiratory infections, UTIs, dermatologic concerns, orthopedic injuries, lacerations, abdominal complaints, and workplace injuries
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, scribes, fellow providers, and leadership
  • Deliver efficient, compassionate, evidence-based care
  • Help maintain a smooth patient flow while upholding high clinical standards
