About The Position

The West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states, including five institutes. WVU Medicine and the Department of Emergency Medicine are seeking a full-time (0.9 FTE) Advanced Practice Provider (PA or NP) to practice at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia. The Department of Emergency Medicine has over 100 full-time members across diverse practice sites. WVU Medicine is West Virginia University’s affiliated health system, a national leader in patient safety and quality, with more than 1,000 active medical staff members and 18,000 employees. Requirements

  • Candidate must have a PA or NP degree
  • Eligible for state medical license
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing
  • For Nurse Practitioner: National Certification by one of the recognized APRN Certification Centers
  • For Nurse Practitioner: Licensure, or eligibility for licensure, as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • For Nurse Practitioner: CNOR Certification required
  • For Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree as Physician Assistant, or Master’s Degree as Physician Assistant required
  • For Physician Assistant: Graduate of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant (PA) training program required
  • For Physician Assistant: Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants required
  • For Physician Assistant: Must be licensed or eligible for licensure by the PA Board of Medicine
  • BLS Certification required with additional Advanced Life Support training at the discretion of the department

Nice To Haves

  • Emergency medicine/ Urgent care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Practice in the areas of Emergency Medicine
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient clinical care to patients in an emergency medicine capacity
  • Establish preventive health practices for patients
