Advanced Practice Provider Weight Management
About The Position
This role focuses on providing comprehensive patient evaluations and management for individuals with overweight, obesity, and related chronic conditions. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will develop and implement individualized treatment plans that may include nutrition counseling, physical activity recommendations, behavioral modification strategies, and anti-obesity pharmacotherapy. Responsibilities include monitoring patient progress, adjusting treatment plans, managing potential side effects or complications, and educating patients about obesity as a chronic disease to promote long-term lifestyle changes. The position involves a team-based approach, collaborating with primary care and support services. There is an opportunity for professional development and collaboration under Dr. Birhanu. The APP is expected to stay current with best practices and emerging therapies in obesity medicine.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or higher in nursing or physician assistant studies from an accredited program.
- Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in primary care or a related field.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
