Position Details: Unique hybrid role supporting both Vascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery 3-12's per week (0530 on Vascular and 0600 on Thoracic), limited weekend coverage Phased onboarding process: Inital training within Vascular, subsequent training and integration into the Thoracic Surgery service Opportunity to build expertise across two high-acuity surgical specialties while maintaining a varied and engaging clinical practice

Requirements

  • Master's Degree - Nursing
  • Licensed APRN in Missouri
  • National APRN Board Certifcatn
  • BJC: Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP), Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP- with appropriate experience)
  • <2 years experience
  • No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

  • Strongly Preferred: Vascular Surgery and / or Thoracic Surgery
  • Preferred: Experience in a high-acuity Surgical ICU setting
  • Preferred Board Certification(s): BJH: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP)
  • Doctorate - Nursing
  • 2-5 years experience

Responsibilities

  • Provides compassionate, appropriate, and effective patient and family-centered care for health recovery, illness prevention, treatment of critically ill, or end-of-life care.
  • Responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion, and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs in an academic inpatient setting.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with patients, families, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other health professionals.
  • Demonstrates the highest level of accountability for professional practice by participating in professional development, quality initiative/performance activities, and implementing standards of care within area of specialization.
  • The nurse practitioner functions within their scope of practice as a healthcare provider, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to provide comprehensive care to patients and families across practice settings.
  • They demonstrate a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered within the inpatient setting.
  • The nurse practitioner demonstrates an advanced level of clinical knowledge, communication, interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism, and systems-based practice.
  • They work with administration staff, nurses, physicians, medical/surgical trainees, and other staff to assure safe, effective, quality patient care.
