Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as an NP or PA in a primary care setting, with demonstrated experience managing a patient panel.
  • Active Rhode Island RN and NP or PA licensure.
  • ANA Certification in your specialty (family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, or pediatrics).
  • Ongoing continuing education to maintain and update clinical skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in applicable medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, high-quality care for diverse and underserved populations, and an authentic passion for health equity and community health.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a panel of primary care patients, providing continuity of care through scheduled appointments and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including health histories, physical exams, and anticipatory guidance across the lifespan.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans based on clinical assessment, patient goals, and evidence-based standards of care.
  • Perform point-of-care testing including rapid strep, flu, COVID, urinalysis, STI testing, and more.
  • Perform wound care, suturing, splinting, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (X-ray, ultrasound, labs) and initiate appropriate treatment based on results.
  • Prescribe medications within your scope of practice.
  • Maintain complete and accurate same-day clinical documentation.
  • Supervise nurse practitioner students as assigned.
  • Conduct peer chart reviews on a rotating basis.
  • Participate in departmental and team meetings to support care coordination and quality improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging requirements.
  • Meet patient throughput and productivity standards to support efficient, accessible care.
