About The Position

The new Psychiatric Emergency Center (PEC) is the only one of its kind in Tarrant County, offering significantly more care spaces than the current facility. A highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), nurses, and social workers, provides 24/7 services for individuals experiencing mental health crises, offering both voluntary and involuntary services. The PEC focuses on patient-centered care, with the team assessing individuals and their situations to create the best possible treatment plans. This role involves working alongside residents, fellows, and APP students, and collaborating closely with attending psychiatrists, primary teams, social workers, case managers, and nursing staff to ensure coordinated patient care.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing with PMHNP certification OR Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from and accredited program.
Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an advanced practice provider in a psychiatric setting.
Must have current Texas Physician Assistant license or Texas APRN license with PMHNP certification.
DEA Certification
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Proficiency in the use of electronic health records (EHR).

Responsibilities

Psychiatric Triage
Psychiatric Evaluation
Short term interventions including observation, monitoring and stabilization of acute crisis
Referral services that meet the needs of the individual person
Evaluation for admission to an Acute Inpatient Unit
