Advanced Practice Provider - Office-based (Acute Care)
About The Position
Urology of Virginia (UVA) is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to provide office-based care within their Acute Care clinical model. This successful clinic operates on a 'same day/next day' appointment system for patients with urgent urological conditions such as kidney stones, hematuria, infection, and urinary retention. The APP will collaborate with supporting physicians to determine intervention and follow-up needs, with opportunities for involvement in procedural care. UVA has a 100-year history of providing comprehensive urological care and is recognized for its APP program, which focuses on enabling APPs to practice at the top of their license within a team-based environment.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
- Licensure in the state of Virginia

- Demonstrate a high degree of general medical and urological knowledge and exercise independent judgment as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Provide office-based care within an Acute Care clinical model, managing patients with urgent urological conditions.
- Assess patient's medical conditions (e.g., kidney stones, hematuria, infection, urinary retention) through urological examinations.
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, progress reports, and other requested information appropriately and communicate with physicians in a timely manner.
- Order and evaluate laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests.
- Prescribe, monitor, and adjust medications and devices based on patient's medical condition.
- Develop and perform treatment plans in accordance with established protocols.
- Order physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or home health care as appropriate.
- Perform acute office-based procedures as trained.
