Requirements

Nurse Practitioner: Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
Physician Assistant: Graduation from an accredited PA program
Active Maryland license (or ability to obtain)
Current DEA license and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or approved provider)
Unrestricted license with no history of suspension or revocation
Eligible for participation with all payers
Prior experience in Pulmonology or Thoracic Surgery sub-specialty or acute care preferred
Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based practice
Proficiency with electronic medical records
Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-based environment

Responsibilities

Serves as a trusted clinician and clinical resource, delivering high-quality care as the program coordinator for the Early Pulmonary Cancer Detection Program through comprehensive patient evaluation, treatment, education, and follow-up.
Works closely with physicians and multidisciplinary care teams, overseeing the program by identifying and triaging appropriate candidates, communicating with referring providers, and following patients through the process.
Provides comprehensive patient care including histories, physical exams, diagnoses, and evidence-based treatment plans for patients enrolled in the nodule surveillance and lung cancer screening programs.
Counsels and educates patients and families using clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication.
Coordinates care across inpatient and outpatient settings to support continuity and optimal outcomes.
Orders and interprets appropriate labs, imaging, and consults with attention to quality, safety, and cost.
Participates in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and workflow enhancements.
Maintains timely, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
