About The Position

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department/Division/Program of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care. This position is located in Menomonee Falls, WI at Froedtert Center for Advanced Care Clinic and Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.

  • Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License
  • Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration
  • Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization
  • Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP)
  • Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP (AGPCNP)
  • Family NP (FNP
  • Physician Assistant Wisconsin Physician Assistant License
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • DEA registration

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience of 2+ years working as an APP is preferred, not required.
  • Highly desired previous experience in acute care, surgical specialties or medicine teams such as hospitalist, internal medicine, perioperative, cardiology and emergency.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring IOrthopaedic intervention in blended environment as a member of the IOrthopaedic Surgery department.
  • Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders.
  • Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information.
  • Privileged to perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle DIVISION services.
  • Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
  • Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission.
  • Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
  • Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.
  • Assist in the OR as needed
