Organization: Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehab Job Summary: Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary health care team. Provides healthcare in primary care, acute care, critical care and long-term health care settings. The has didactic education, clinical competency and national certification in identified area of clinical practice. Demonstrates medical knowledge, clinical judgment, technical competence, professionalism, interpersonal communication skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional development and competency validation. Has an advanced knowledge of healthcare theory and application. Will participate in the medical and surgical care of orthopaedic patients in the clinical acute care and/or ambulatory setting and includes pre-operative and postoperative physical examinations, postoperative management, fracture management, casting and splinting, wound care and patient education. This also includes both new referrals and established patients. Works collaboratively with the orthopaedic team using established and approved protocols as required by state law and institutional policy. . Department Summary: The Division of Sports Medicine is committed to providing a team oriented, highly ethical and humble culture — and to educating tomorrow’s leaders in sports medicine. All of our faculty, from every sports medicine discipline, work together while teaching our team of fellows while collaborating regularly with colleagues in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. Together, we strive for excellence in everything we do, from clinical care and community involvement to education and research. In addition to treating patients, we provide outstanding team care to athletes from the Nashville area, including more than 30 high schools, Vanderbilt University, AAA Baseball Nashville Sounds, MLS Nashville Soccer Club, and NHL Predators Hockey. We also excel in sports medicine research. In fact, we founded and lead the MOON ACL Group, the MOON Shoulder Group, the Multicenter Revision ACL Study (MARS), the Vanderbilt Concussion Center, and many other multicenter research initiatives.
