About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join Endeavor Health in the Neurosciences Department, working in both a Neuro-Hospitalist and Neuro Critical Care setting. The Advanced Practice Provider (APN/PA), under the direction of collaborating physician(s), will provide comprehensive care to patients. This includes obtaining detailed histories, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and instructing patients on therapeutic regimens and pre/post-operative care. The role involves maintaining patient records, writing progress notes, and following patients through their course of treatment in both clinic and hospital settings. The provider will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to achieve optimal patient outcomes, prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, and demonstrate evidence-based practice. Key responsibilities also include participating in the development and evaluation of standards of practice, assessing patient and family learning needs, and employing strategies to promote health. The position requires providing comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnoses, and prescribing treatments for acute and chronic illnesses, while also promoting wellness and preventing injury. The APN/PA will work autonomously and as part of interdisciplinary teams, contributing positively to safety outcomes and patient experience, and supporting the organization's strategic plan and policies.

Requirements

  • Advanced Practice Licensure (APN) or Physician Assistant (PA) Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Federal DEA and Illinois Controlled Substance License required
  • Completion of master’s level program in specialty area
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Prior APN/PA experience in Neurology and/or Critical Care required

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to patients under the direction of the collaborating physician(s)
  • Obtains detailed history and performs physical examinations
  • Orders imaging, lab tests and diagnostic procedures and interprets results
  • Instructs patients on the prescribed therapeutic regimen and pre/post operative instructions
  • Maintains records and writes progress notes on status, treatments and procedures
  • Follows patients through their course of treatment in the clinic and hospital setting
  • Collaborates with physicians and the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes
  • Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies as appropriate
  • Demonstrates evidence-based practice
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of practice in the specialty
  • Assesses the learning needs of patients and families across the continuum
  • Employs strategies, interventions and teaching to promote, maintain, and improve health
  • Provide comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe treatments under the protocol in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease
  • Promotes wellness and prevent illness and injury in various settings for individuals, families, and communities
  • Works autonomously and in interdisciplinary teams as resources and consultants
  • Positively contributes to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of service line goals
  • Supports the strategic plan of the organization
