The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Lead works with APP and Division leadership and will function in liaison, oversight, and mentoring roles for other advanced practice providers. Administrative and reporting responsibilities as per department expectations. Interacts with the division workforce at large on issues related to advanced practice providers. Assigned responsibility for mentoring advanced practice providers and is designated expert for advanced practice in the division. Provides clinical and day-to-day leadership and mentoring in matters relating to advanced practice and the professional development of APRNs or PAs for serving as the liaison between the APRNs/PAs and upper-level advanced practice management (APP Manager and APP Director). The APP Lead is responsible for providing health care services to patients within the parameters of a standard care or supervisory agreement with an attending physician member of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Collaborates with a physician (s) and other clinicians in providing a full scope of patient care. The focus is on preventive health or the management of acute and/or stable chronic conditions. Performs medical services that have been specifically authorized and directed by the credentialing body and the certifying organization through which they hold licensure. The APP Lead provides health care services to patients working in collaboration with a licensed physician member of the medical staff. Healthcare services provided include care during acute and chronic phases of illness, education, and counseling of individuals and families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate. This is a leadership role designed to support the operational, clinical, and professional needs of Advanced Practice Providers who participate in nocturnal and rotational scheduling. This position works in close collaboration with the Cardiac Surgery APP Leadership team to ensure high-quality, consistent patient care across all hours. This role shares administrative responsibilities with the existing APP Lead, provides structured leadership presence during night shifts, and serves as the primary liaison for nocturnal and rotational APPs. The position requires participation in a rotational schedule, including nights, to maintain alignment with frontline clinical operations and team needs.
