About The Position
Provide medical and surgical care across the multiple clinic settings of the health department. Has primary responsibility for examining patients, obtaining clinical specimens including surgical tissue biopsies, determining correct diagnosis and prescribing appropriate treatment. In addition, reviews result of clinical laboratory or pathological specimens and recommends plans of care for patients. This work is done under the guidance of the physician medical director.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board
- Two years of experience as an APP
- Thorough knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking
- Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of general medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work
- Thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings
- Thorough knowledge of advanced physical assessment, advanced pathophysiology, advanced pharmacology, and therapeutic procedures as related to the area of work
- Thorough knowledge and ability to plan a regime of care based on assessment and findings
- Thorough knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods
- Thorough knowledge of specialized and technical tests/procedures specific to the surgical area to which the employee is assigned
- Skill in performing clinical and/or surgical functions
- Ability to communicate orally

- Will accept applications for an Advanced Practice Provider II salary grade 81 ($105,418 - $166,618) working against an Advanced Practice Provider III.
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the North Carolina Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nurse Midwife by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board and one year of experience as an APP.
Responsibilities

- Recording accurately and completely all information necessary to evaluate and develop appropriate care plans
- Teaching and counseling individuals, families and groups in areas of health maintenance, preventive medicine, and care of the sick
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff
- Gaining the trust of patients and family and working effectively with them
