About The Position

The Orange County Health Department has an opening for an Advanced Practice Provider I. An employee of this class is primarily responsible for providing ambulatory primary care services as offered through health department programs, including diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness in all age groups, preventative and well childcare, family planning, reproductive and sexual health care, prenatal care, minor surgical procedures, and occasional medical emergencies in collaboration with supervising physician. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Advanced Practice Provider II with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work and in making decisions regarding client/family needs and requests. Supervision is not the responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the residents we serve. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner Program
  • Possession of Family Nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant national certification
  • Current NC licensure or eligible for licensure/approval to practice as issued by the North Carolina Medical Board or the North Carolina Joint Subcommittee of the Board of Nursing and Medical Board
  • If a Nurse Practitioner, must possess valid, current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Driver License issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of work experience as an Advanced Practice Provider
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • May be required to possess additional certification(s) as deemed necessary by the Public Health Nursing Director
