About The Position

Riverside Medical Group is seeking a highly adaptable Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join our trauma labor pool, supporting a dynamic, high-acuity environment across emergency, inpatient, and perioperative settings. This role is designed for experienced clinicians who thrive in fast-paced trauma care and can seamlessly integrate into multidisciplinary teams in a short-term capacity. Requirements

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Board certification required (ACNP, FNP with relevant experience, or PA-C)
  • Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) certification and active licensure.
  • Hold an active, unrestricted RN license in Virginia or a multistate RN license through the NLC.
  • Meet comprehensive and professional standards.
  • Have a current, valid state of Virginia APRN/NP License issued jointly by the Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine or be eligible for one.
  • Apply for and maintain Prescriptive Authority through the Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine
  • Have a valid DEA controlled substance registration.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced trauma/emergency APP (preferred 2–5+ years in trauma, ED, or critical care)
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in high-acuity situations
  • Strong procedural competency and clinical decision-making under pressure
  • Highly adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable with variable assignments
  • Effective communicator with a commitment to throughput, quality, and patient safety

Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline trauma coverage in collaboration with trauma surgeons and ED physicians
  • Perform rapid assessment, stabilization, and ongoing management of trauma patients
  • Execute procedures within scope (e.g., laceration repair, chest tubes, central lines, splinting)
  • Support inpatient trauma service (rounding, consults, discharges, care coordination)
  • Assist in OR and perioperative workflows as needed
  • Ensure timely documentation, order entry, and communication across care teams
  • Maintain flexibility to float across sites, shifts (days/nights/weekends), and service needs
