Riverside Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Labor- Pool Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider to join our team at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia. Riverside Regional Medical Center is a 500 + bed, Level II Trauma Center with an annual Emergency Department volume over 80,000 patients. The facility is a DNV certified Comprehensive Stroke Center and an accredited Chest Pain Center including a Chest Pain Center Primary PCI by the American College of Cardiology. The Emergency Department has over 40 private patient care rooms including 2 state-of-the-art Trauma/Resuscitation rooms, an additional 10-bed Observation Unit and comprehensive on-call specialty support. ▪90 hours provider coverage per day ▪12-hour shifts available ▪EPIC EMR ▪Certified stroke, trauma & cardiac center ▪Must be BC/BE ▪ED residency program Unable to sponsor J1 visa providers 👨‍⚕️ In Your Role (should be for the specialty- below is internal Medicine focus) You will provide comprehensive care for our patients, focusing on prevention, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions. Your responsibilities will include: Providing patient care services as part of a collaborative healthcare team Performing comprehensive history and physical assessments Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions Ordering and interpreting diagnostic labs and tests Developing and evaluating individualized treatment plans Prescribing pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions Coordinating specialty referrals and consultations Recognizing and responding to emergent situations with life-saving interventions Educating patients and families on health maintenance Advocating patients’ rights and diverse needs Participating in clinic meetings and daily safety huddles Engaging in continuing medical education and professional development Demonstrating leadership, mentorship, and evidence-based practice Maintaining regulatory compliance and documentation standards

Requirements

  • Nurse Practitioner (NP) Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
  • Virginia Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
  • National NP certification in an acute‑care–appropriate population, specifically: Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG‑ACNP)
  • (Family Nurse Practitioner may be accepted by some Emergency Departments; however, AG‑ACNP is often preferred or required for high‑acuity Emergency Department practice)
  • Physician Assistant (PA) Master’s degree from an ARC‑PA–accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Virginia Physician Assistant license
  • National certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) — PA‑C
  • Meet comprehensive professional and clinical standards
  • Hold a current, valid Virginia license (APRN for NPs or PA license for Physician Assistants), or be eligible for licensure
  • Prescriptive authority, as applicable: NPs: Prescriptive authority granted jointly through the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine PAs: Prescriptive authority delegated through a patient care team practice agreement
  • Active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
  • Must be BC/BE
  • ED residency program
