Riverside Health is seeking a full time highly motivated Orthopedic Advanced Practice Provider (PA-C or NP) to join the Riverside Medical Group Orthopedics team in Newport News, Virginia This position is designed as a general orthopedic APP role with temporary assignment supporting orthopedic trauma services, offering a unique opportunity to develop broad-based musculoskeletal expertise while contributing to a high-acuity care environment. Our Riverside Orthopedics team provides comprehensive care across subspecialties including sports medicine, hand and wrist, shoulder and elbow, foot and ankle, total joint replacement, and trauma services.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license
  • National board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current Physician Assistant license
  • National certification (PA‑C)
  • Eligible for Virginia licensure
  • Valid DEA registration (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • BLS required; ACLS preferred (hospital- or surgical-based practice)
  • Ability to work in both clinic and hospital-based settings
  • Strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and team orientation

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage orthopedic conditions in clinic and hospital settings
  • Perform procedures within scope (injections, reductions, splinting, etc.)
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
  • Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient care
  • Support service line growth and patient access initiatives
  • Assist in the management of orthopedic trauma patients (ED, inpatient, OR support)
  • Participate in fracture care, consults, and perioperative coordination
  • Support call coverage structure as needed
  • Work in a fast-paced, team-based trauma environment
