About The Position

CHOC Specialists, a private pediatric subspecialty group, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for their Critical Care Division to work in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU). This role involves managing pediatric cardiac intensive care patients within a family-centered care environment at Rady Children’s Health-Orange County (RCHOC), a Level I Trauma Hospital with a new, state-of-the-art 24-bed CVICU. The position is part of a unique collaboration with UCLA Health aimed at enhancing pediatric cardiac and cardiothoracic care across Southern California. RCHOC has received numerous accolades, including the Gold Level CAPE Award, Magnet designation, the Beacon Award for Excellence for its CVICU, and ELSO Platinum Center of Excellence status. The CVICU is scheduled to open its new, state-of-the-art 24-bed facility in February 2025. The location in Orange County, California, offers a desirable climate and proximity to various attractions.

Requirements

California licensed and certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
At least two years of bedside nursing experience in direct pediatric cardiovascular intensive patient care.
At least one year of clinical pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant experience.
Demonstrated expertise in pediatric cardiovascular intensive care.
Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, diagnose, and treat cardiac medical patients.
Manage pre- and post-operative/catheterization cardiac patients.
Assist in developing and implementing plans of care for all patients in the CVICU.
Function in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary cardiac team.
Provide consultation and education to patients and their families.
