About The Position

This position is for an Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP/PA-C) in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington, serving as a Teaching Associate. The role involves working within an interdisciplinary pain team at the Center for Pain Relief, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems. The successful candidate will see patients independently, with attending physician oversight, and may be involved in managing chronic opioid therapy, care coordination, and overseeing specific pain treatments. The position is full-time with a 12-month service period and annual appointments, with the equivalent of one month available for paid time off. Faculty at UW engage in teaching, research, and service.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA.
  • State of Washington ARNP or PA licensure by start of appointment.
  • Ability to articulate how past experiences and/or future plans in research, teaching, mentoring, patient care, and/or service promote a sense of belonging and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems, including relevant medical and psychological conditions.
  • Prescription and oversight of chronic opioid therapy.
  • Care coordination for patients.
  • Oversight of specific pain treatments such as lidocaine infusions or capsaicin patch application and post-procedure follow up after outpatient pain interventions.
  • Teaching, research, and service as part of University of Washington faculty engagement.
