About The Position

This position is for an Advanced Practice Provider (ARNP/PA-C) in the Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at the University of Washington, serving as a Teaching Associate. The role involves working as part of an interdisciplinary pain team at the Center for Pain Relief, focusing on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems. The successful candidate will see patients independently, with attending physician oversight, and may be involved in managing chronic opioid therapy, care coordination, and overseeing specific pain treatments. This is a full-time, regular position with a 12-month service period.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Nationally certified ARNP/PA.
  • Must obtain state of Washington ARNP or PA licensure by start of appointment.
  • Experience and qualifications commensurate with the salary range.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex chronic pain problems, including relevant medical and psychological conditions.
  • Prescription and oversight of chronic opioid therapy.
  • Care coordination for pain patients.
  • Potential involvement in oversight of specific pain treatments such as lidocaine infusions or capsaicin patch application.
  • Post-procedure follow-up after outpatient pain interventions.
  • Teaching, research, and service as part of University of Washington faculty.
