About The Position

Harborview Medical Center's Ortho Trauma Fracture Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant. The Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Clinic specializes in the comprehensive management of musculoskeletal injuries, with a primary focus on acute and complex fractures, and dislocations. Our multidisciplinary team of orthopedic trauma surgeons, nurses, medical assistants and ortho techs provides expert care to patients with traumatic injuries resulting from accidents, falls, or high-impact events. Our clinic offers both surgical and non-surgical treatments tailored to each patient’s specific condition. Services include fracture reduction and fixation, post-operative care, follow-up imaging, and physical therapy coordination. We also manage complications such as non-unions, malunions, and infections associated with previous injuries.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
  • License to practice as an RN in Washington State
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
  • BLS certification
  • Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington
  • National certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA)
  • Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions

Responsibilities

  • Maintains customer service competencies.
  • Provides comprehensive assessments of patients with orthopedic injuries, and when appropriate, their families.
  • Formulate a treatment plan for orthopedic problems within scope of practice.
  • May perform minor surgical procedures, such as suturing lacerations and incision and drainage of abscesses, including administration of local anesthesia.
  • Demonstrates professional responsibility and leadership through participation in hospital, University and professional opportunities.
  • Participates in the quality assurance and process improvement activities of the clinic and organization.
  • Shares in the improvement in quality of patient care through participation in committees, implementation of new trends in nursing or medical care, and by contributing suggestions for improvement in organized delivery of care.
