About The Position

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine has a full-time faculty position (1.0 FTE) available at the rank of Instructor for a Physician Assistant (PA). Under the direction of the full-time faculty, this position provides outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital and its affiliates. The candidate will be expected to provide independent clinical services in a team-based environment for wound and ostomy care patients and for plastic & reconstructive surgery patients, including ED consults, post-operative visits, follow-up appointments, new patient exams, OR first assist, and in-clinic minor procedures. Close collaboration with physicians, residents, other APPs, and hospital and clinic staff will be necessary. Eligibility for prescriptive authority is required. This position will be 50% outpatient wound care, and 50% supporting the plastic and reconstructive surgery / microsurgery team. This includes providing support to the lymphedema multidisciplinary committee and patients who have undergone general and specialized plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures including breast reconstruction, perineal reconstruction, chest and abdominal reconstruction, and general plastic surgery.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the state of Colorado.
  • Must be eligible for certification with independent prescriptive authority.
  • Must have or obtain Wound, Ostomy, and Continence certification within six months of hire.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient medical care services at the University of Colorado Hospital and its affiliates.
