About The Position

The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Professional Counselor to join their ambulatory hematology-oncology, cardiology, and other specialty clinics to provide specialized mental health care to children, parents/families, and care partners facing the challenges of chronic illness. This LCSW/LPC will provide behavioral health support to these pediatric services with an emphasis on navigating life with a chronic illness. Therapy services will address anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, and other mental health needs associated with chronic illness. This is a hybrid model with virtual and ambulatory therapy visits.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited social work program required
  • 3 years’ experience post master’s required
  • Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia (LCSW) or applicants with an active license from another state must obtain Virginia LCSW within 18 months of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • At least two years of post-licensure clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families navigating chronic illness
  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
  • Demonstrated comfort with therapeutic interventions and skills appropriate for helping families and patients navigate medical crises and complex conditions, chronic illness, and grief and loss

Responsibilities
