About The Position

Experienced Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a premier Internal Medicine practice in Sarasota, Florida. Sarasota Memorial First Physicians Group has an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP | FNP) or Physician Assistant in our Sarasota market. We are seeking a well-trained, compassionate, enthusiastic provider looking to provide exceptional care in our employed practice. We are located in the highly desirable area of Sarasota, FL, which is on the West Coast of Florida and close to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country – Siesta Key, Lido Key and Longboat Key. The community is known for its excellent public and private schools and a vast array of activities for all ages to enjoy. First Physicians Group is one of the Gulf Coast’s largest primary and specialty care groups. The group is comprised of 750+ Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers covering 53 specialties in 74 practice locations throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) reflects the mission, vision, and values of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and other regulatory and accreditation standards. The APRN I typically works in an outpatient clinic or area with set hours (i.e., PAT, Employee Health). An APRN is a registered nurse and therefore can perform all duties that are considered routine duties of a registered nurse. In addition, an APRN holds a master’s or doctoral degree. The APRN functions as part of the multidisciplinary health team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high-quality, cost-effective advanced nursing care to patients within the APRN’s scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduate from accredited APRN or PA program
  • Certification in professional specialty
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Florida
  • BLS
  • Advanced degree from an accredited school or college of nursing
  • Must have had a Medicare number in the State of Florida prior to 1/1/03; if not, must have a Master’s Degree in nursing in addition to being a Registered Professional Nurse who is authorized by Florida to practice in accordance with state law.
  • Approved APRN board certification. Must be certified as a APRN by a recognized national certifying body having established standards for APRNs. The following organizations are recognized national certifying bodies for the Nurse Practitioner: American Academy of Nurse Practitioners; American Nurses Credentialing Center; National Certification Corporation for Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties; National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners & Nurses; Oncology Nurses Certification Corporation; Critical Care Certification Corporation; National Commission on Certification; American Association of Heart Failure Nurses; and the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient only service
  • See an average of 16 patients per day
  • Handle acute/sick, wellness, and physician overflow visits
