About The Position
St. David's South Austin Medical Center is hiring an Advanced Patient Care Technician for its Oncology Med Surg team. Under the guidance of a registered nurse, the technician performs advanced clinical tasks and helps provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a safe and welcoming environment. The role includes observing patients and communicating changes to the nursing team, assisting with daily living needs, providing advanced clinical care, and supporting lab collection and clerical work. The technician is expected to anticipate patient needs and respond promptly.
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date.
- No experience required.
- No travel required.
Responsibilities
- Observe patients, document changes, and communicate those changes to the nursing team.
- Help patients with activities of daily living, including eating, drinking, bathing, and moving safely.
- Perform advanced care tasks, including phlebotomy, telemetry monitoring, removing IV lines and catheters, and wound care.
- Collect lab samples and assist with clerical duties.
- Anticipate patient needs and respond promptly to help provide a seamless, compassionate experience.
