About The Position

Grand Canyon University (GCU) is a private Christian university seeking adjunct faculty to teach part-time, face-to-face instruction in the College of Arts and Media at its Phoenix campus. This specific role is for the 'Advanced Motion Design 3' course, which focuses on a semester-long project simulating an industry production schedule. Students will develop a primarily 2D graphic design-based motion graphic, aiming to create a portfolio piece for entry-level graphic design jobs utilizing motion. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in animation, motion graphics, 3D modeling, graphic design, advertising, or an equivalent degree in the visual arts.
  • 12 Principles of Animation
  • Understanding of graphic design and how it relates to motion graphics
  • Understanding of motion graphics trends
  • Understanding of motion production pipeline
  • Strong ability to give pointed feedback
  • Understanding of typography and its use in motion
  • Manipulation and editing of sound files
  • Understanding of story arc
  • Understanding of color theory
  • Ability to understand requirements of a creative brief for motion graphics
  • Understanding of personal brand development
  • Understanding of industry expectations for motion graphics portfolios
  • Skills teaching Maya
  • Skills teaching Adobe After Effects
  • Skills teaching Adobe Photoshop
  • Skills teaching Adobe Illustrator
  • Skills teaching Adobe Audition
  • Skills teaching Adobe mobile apps
  • Ability to teach on the most current version of the Adobe and Maya software products.
