About The Position

Skills Inc. is seeking several Advanced Manufacturing Leadership Academy Interns for a unique running start opportunity for high school seniors in Auburn, Washington. The Advanced Manufacturing Leadership Academy (AMLA) is a nine-month concurrent enrollment, dual credit educational career launch program designed to provide participants with a foundation of knowledge and skills for a successful future in advanced manufacturing. Participants will earn credits towards high school graduation and an AAS degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technologies at Clover Park Technical College. The program offers extensive experience from college instructors and hands-on training with industry professionals. Participants will be employed part-time at Skills Inc. and compensated for production work, with tuition costs covered by the Running Start program. No prior experience is necessary. The curriculum includes concepts for moving from manual to automated manufacturing solutions, including robotics, 3D printing, and digital inspection. Participants will become proficient in operating CNC machines and dimensional inspection, and develop leadership skills through real-life problem-solving and Lean principles. The program also provides guidance on future career pathways, including further education, apprenticeships, or workplace roles.

Requirements

  • High school senior status.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
  • No pre-requisites or prior experience necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Gain leadership skills by participating in real-life problem-solving activities.
  • Apply the principles of Lean to improve processes.
  • Receive guidance on structuring work-based learning journeys beyond AMLA, including supported pathways for additional education, apprenticeships, or workplace roles.
