About The Position

Marvin is seeking an innovative, hands-on engineer to identify, evaluate, and advance emerging technologies that improve safety, quality, and productivity across its operations. The role covers work from early-stage exploration through pilot execution, validating ideas, assessing impact, and translating concepts into practical manufacturing solutions that support the company’s long-term advanced manufacturing strategy. The engineer will explore technologies such as automation, robotics, vision systems, AI-enabled tools, and advanced process concepts; lead pilots and proof-of-concept efforts in production environments; and develop structured validation plans, test methods, and success criteria. The position works with operations, engineering, maintenance, IT, and external suppliers to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with business needs. It also translates concepts into recommendations, ROI-informed business cases, and deployment-ready opportunities, while producing technical documentation and contributing to Marvin’s advanced manufacturing roadmap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, automation, controls, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience working with production systems, machine integration, PLCs, robotics, or similar manufacturing technologies.
  • Ability to prototype, test, validate, and refine new concepts in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading pilot programs, proof-of-concept initiatives, or process improvement efforts in a manufacturing setting.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous or evolving environments and translate ideas into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to partner across technical, operational, and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and applying safe practices throughout innovation, testing, and implementation activities.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and passion for identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes, technologies, and operational performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, including machine vision, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), simulation tools, or digital twin applications.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities or implementing solutions across multiple locations.
  • Knowledge of Industry 4.0 principles and emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience scaling successful pilots or proof-of-concept initiatives into broader operational deployment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies, including automation, robotics, vision systems, AI-enabled tools, and advanced process concepts.
  • Lead pilot projects and proof-of-concept efforts in production environments to validate feasibility, value, and operational fit.
  • Develop validation plans, test methods, and success criteria to measure impact on safety, quality, throughput, cost, and ergonomics.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, IT, and external suppliers to ensure solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with business needs.
  • Translate concepts into recommendations, ROI-informed business cases, and deployment-ready opportunities.
  • Create technical documentation, validation reports, and updates to support prioritization and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities that build scalable capability and contribute to Marvin’s advanced manufacturing roadmap.
