About The Position

The Global Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Manager – Welding, & Fabrication for the Infrastructure Solutions (IS) business is responsible for defining, standardizing, and deploying scalable manufacturing processes across global sites. This role owns process capability, equipment strategy, and manufacturing readiness for core fabrication disciplines, ensuring executable capacity, quality, safety, and cost targets are met across engineer-to-order (ETO) and NPDI environments. This position partners closely with Product Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Plant Leadership to translate design intent and demand signals into repeatable, industrialized manufacturing solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering with deep expertise in welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Proven experience supporting multi-site or global manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of ETO manufacturing environments and NPDI execution.
  • Demonstrated experience with capacity modeling, industrialization, and equipment deployment.
  • Global technical leadership and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage complexity across products, processes, and regions.
  • Clear communication with both technical and executive audiences.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on executable, repeatable manufacturing outcomes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in heavy industrial, electrical infrastructure, or engineered-to-order products.
  • Exposure to automation, robotics, advanced welding technologies, and surface treatment systems.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous improvement certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own global manufacturing standards for welding, and fabrication processes across IS facilities.
  • Define and maintain global process specifications, design guidelines, and best practices aligned to safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Serve as the technical authority for process capability, cycle time, yield, and manufacturability across product families.
  • Develop executable (vs. technical) capacity models for fabrication processes, accounting for ETO variability, changeovers, and product mix.
  • Lead line balancing, takt development, and process flow optimization for fabrication value streams.
  • Support make/buy decisions and site loading strategies based on process capability and capacity constraints.
  • Define global equipment and tooling strategies for welding, surface preparation, finishing/painting, and fabrication (manual, semi-automated, and automated solutions).
  • Lead equipment specification, vendor selection, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
  • Drive standard equipment platforms where feasible while accommodating regional and product-specific needs.
  • Lead manufacturing readiness for new product introductions (NPDI), ensuring fabrication processes are capable, validated, and production-ready.
  • Partner with Engineering to influence design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFA) decisions early in the development cycle.
  • Own process FMEAs, control plans, and pilot build execution for fabrication disciplines.
  • Lead global workshops to align fabrication processes, KPIs, and operating models across sites.
  • Drive adoption of standard work, visual management, and process controls.
  • Support phased deployment of new processes, equipment, and standards across global IS facilities.
  • Establish and track KPIs related to safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity for fabrication operations.
  • Identify systemic losses (changeover, rework, downtime) and lead global improvement initiatives.
  • Capture lessons learned and continuously refine global standards and deployment models.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and EHS to ensure end-to-end process alignment.
  • Provide direct technical support to plants during ramp-ups, constraints, and issue resolution.
  • Act as a global escalation point for complex fabrication process challenges.
