About The Position

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (AME) holds a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of all systems within a designated business unit. This position is essential to maintaining reliability, efficiency, and safety across our operations. Based in Baytown, Texas, the AME drives innovation and long-term success by tackling complex challenges and spearheading strategic initiatives. Key responsibilities include solving intricate unit issues with deep technical insight, leading impactful improvement projects that elevate performance, providing expert reviews of process safety studies to uphold the highest standards, and mentoring and coaching the next generation of engineers through hands-on training and guidance.

Requirements

  • B.S. (or higher) degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of industry-related experience
  • Demonstrated design experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Capable of working independently and achieving high standards
  • Capable of working with and leading teams effectively
  • Mentor / role model for setting work standards and business ethics
  • Leadership skills to influence Operations team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Petroleum Refining or Chemical industries or with an industry-adjacent contractor
  • Experience in offsites systems (e.g., flares, storage facilities, shipping, logistics, docks, pipeline)
  • Experience in Engineering support of Utilities operations in a plant manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Advanced Manufacturing Engineer within the business unit.
  • Participate on the unit Operations team.
  • Proactively identify issues prior to Operations impact.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex unit problems.
  • Organize resolution of technical issues.
  • Lead and/or participate in incident investigation teams.
  • Interface with external organizations (e.g., Engineering, Technology).
  • Initiate, support, and champion technically advanced solutions.
  • Maintain key interfaces (e.g., EM networks, Research Institutes and Academia, key vendors and suppliers).
  • Provide technical reviews of special unit operations, unit operating changes / projects, and equipment strategies.
  • Identify unit improvement ideas to meet site initiatives (e.g., energy, reliability, cost).
  • Lead the development and implementation of larger improvement projects to support site initiatives.
  • Provide technical reviews of process safety studies for the business unit (e.g., HAZOPs, SRRs, LOPAs).
  • Provide consulting on process safety for the unit.
  • Share safety learnings.
  • Provide training and mentorship to other engineers.
  • Support the network and associated EM sites.
  • Develop and expand technology via partnerships and developmental projects.
