Advanced Manufacturing Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA
•$142,443 - $201,600

About The Position

Apple Inc. is hiring an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer in Cupertino, California, and various unanticipated locations throughout the United States. The role designs precision assembly and measurement processes for Apple products and develops, implements, and scales automated and semi-automated manufacturing solutions using sound engineering principles and application-specific technologies. It applies theoretical and practical engineering to develop and improve processes, including manufacturing and testing processes for complex, high-precision assemblies. The engineer provides direction and mentorship to third-party machine and automation suppliers and contract manufacturers (CMs). The role creates RFQs/RFPs that document equipment design requirements, delivery schedules, required documentation, and acceptance qualification criteria at supplier and contract-manufacturer facilities. It engages suppliers in equipment design reviews and proposals, and travels to supplier and contract-manufacturer sites for equipment bring-up, qualification, acceptance testing, and build-event support. International travel is required 25% of the time. The position is 40 hours per week. The role drives machine qualification, including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK), and Gage Repeatability/Reproducibility (GR&R); leads failure analysis and resolution of machine issues with suppliers and contract manufacturers; and prepares data-analysis reports to communicate machine capability to multifunctional teams. The base pay range is $142,443–$201,600 per year, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees may be eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, discounted stock purchases through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, discounted products and free services, and tuition reimbursement for certain education related to career advancement at Apple. The role might also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments and relocation. Benefits and compensation are subject to applicable eligibility requirements and plan terms.
