About The Position

Novacel is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Shift Advanced Maintenance Technician to join our operations team. This role is critical for ensuring maximum run-time, equipment reliability, and operational safety across our production lines. The ideal candidate brings deep troubleshooting expertise across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, along with a passion for mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of 5 years of multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical/controls systems.
Strong PLC troubleshooting skills (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar preferred).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with CMMS systems.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and required PPE.
Demonstrated stamina for extended periods of physical activity and sustained concentration.
Flexibility to work varying shifts (8–12 hours), including occasional weekends.
Solid understanding of OSHA and ANSI standards, with a strong commitment to safe work practices.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
Diagnose and resolve complex issues across mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control systems to minimize downtime.
Lead root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Collaborate with Engineering on equipment upgrades, rebuilds, and new installations.
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in electrical/controls troubleshooting, PLC logic interpretation, and automation systems.
Mentor and train junior technicians and operators on best practices in maintenance and troubleshooting.
Identify and recommend equipment or process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
Partner with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize and execute work orders effectively.
Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Champion critical safety programs, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and arc flash safety.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities within the CMMS system.
Identify and implement initiatives to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and optimize spare parts usage.
Participate in Lean/Kaizen events and cross-functional improvement efforts.
Support cost-reduction initiatives through energy savings, waste reduction, and improved process reliability.
Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
