About The Position

Novacel is seeking a highly skilled 2nd Shift Advanced Maintenance Technician to join our operations team. This role is critical for ensuring maximum run-time, equipment reliability, and operational safety across our production lines. The ideal candidate brings deep troubleshooting expertise across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems, along with a passion for mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 5 years of multi-craft maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical/controls systems.
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting skills (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and required PPE.
  • Demonstrated stamina for extended periods of physical activity and sustained concentration.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts (8–12 hours), including occasional weekends.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA and ANSI standards, with a strong commitment to safe work practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • technical certification or associate’s degree in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and utilities.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues across mechanical, electrical, and PLC/control systems to minimize downtime.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on equipment upgrades, rebuilds, and new installations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in electrical/controls troubleshooting, PLC logic interpretation, and automation systems.
  • Mentor and train junior technicians and operators on best practices in maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Identify and recommend equipment or process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Manager to prioritize and execute work orders effectively.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
  • Champion critical safety programs, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and arc flash safety.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of maintenance activities within the CMMS system.
  • Identify and implement initiatives to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and optimize spare parts usage.
  • Participate in Lean/Kaizen events and cross-functional improvement efforts.
  • Support cost-reduction initiatives through energy savings, waste reduction, and improved process reliability.
  • Support departmental initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
