About The Position

At GE Aerospace, this role provides manufacturing support and guidance to the Future of Flight Mechanical Design team to ensure the manufacturability of new designs for next-generation products. Embedded with the design engineering team, the engineer helps balance design intent and performance with producibility, applying engineering concepts to design and drafting to prevent future manufacturing issues. The role leads and influences across a changing product mix to meet functional, business, and company objectives, including for the RISE program, a revolutionary new engine concept. The position provides technical direction to a large design team, advises on manufacturing practices, standards, initial development needs, and cost predictions, and collaborates with design, systems engineering, quality, materials, manufacturing, production, global sites, and external suppliers. It contributes to technology roadmaps and design reviews, supports industrialization and technology maturation, develops standard work for new processes, and ensures technical data is properly documented. The role also promotes innovation, collaboration, and GE Aerospace’s FLIGHT DECK culture. Within the first 90 days, the engineer is expected to lead producibility reviews on priority components and recommend process capability and inspection strategies. Within six months, the role is expected to influence drawing and model changes that reduce predicted scrap and rework and support MRL and industrialization plans for new processes and hardware.
