About The Position

We are seeking experienced and reliable Advanced Heavy Equipment/Tractor Technicians to join our team. The ideal candidates will have strong diagnostic and repair skills with a variety of heavy equipment including tractors, excavators and related equipment. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment, troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and ensuring all repairs comply with safety standards and manufacturer specifications. The position also includes tasks such as requisitioning parts, completing paperwork, and working in an interior service bay environment with some exterior work required.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment or tractor mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • Certification in Auto/ Diesel mechanics. ASE or other certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Reading schematics
  • Previous solid experience using various manufacturer software programs on diagnostic laptops
  • Strong working knowledge of CAN bus systems with the ability to diagnose & resolve wiring/module and network communication issues
  • Working knowledge of DEF systems and related diesel emission systems.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment, including tractors, loaders, excavators, and hydraulic systems according to the work order or other approved repairs
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Disassemble and assemble units under repair using a variety of hand and power tools according to accepted procedures
  • Communicate with service writer regarding status of units under repair according to the work order or other approved repairs.
  • Perform Safety and Operational checks on repaired units. Repair items out of tolerance. Ensure all repairs comply with safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Diagnose & repair boom mowers
  • Split tractors
  • Disassemble & repair hydrostatic transmissions
  • Perform hydraulic testing
  • Diagnose and repair diesel & gas injection systems
  • Work with DEF systems and related diesel emission systems
  • Pull own stock as required using forklift or pallets jacks.
  • Requisition parts required for repairs and communicate to service writer as needed.
  • Complete all required paperwork and time recording.
