About The Position

As an Advanced AI Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, you will provide expert-level technical leadership in designing and developing AI algorithms, models, and systems. You will serve as a subject matter expert for technical AI projects, guiding the exploration and implementation of methodologies and best practices. The role contributes to critical AI initiatives and technical excellence across the organization.

This position is based in Phoenix, Arizona, with a hybrid work schedule. Relocation is not offered. The position supports Honeywell Aerospace’s work developing products and services for commercial aviation, defense, and space, including avionics, navigation systems, sensors, and electromagnetic defense technology.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience managing AI-related technology projects.
• Mastery-level expertise in machine learning or related artificial intelligence technology.
• Must meet the U.S. Person requirement: be a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, have protected status under asylum or refugee status, or have the ability to obtain export authorization.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with database operations, including data storage, retrieval, and management.
• Knowledge of embeddings and indexing techniques and their applications in AI and machine learning.
• Experience with on-premises AI.
• Familiarity with API calling and integration, including designing and implementing APIs for AI applications.
• Understanding of UI/UX principles and their application to intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for AI-powered systems.
• Experience collecting KPIs and creating dashboards, including designing metrics to measure AI system performance and visualizing insights.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AI engineers, product managers, and aerospace experts to understand requirements and develop AI applications that meet business needs.
• Research state-of-the-art AI models and infrastructure tools for on-premises deployment, and stay current with industry trends and advancements.
• Develop ideas for and build Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions for internal applications, using retrieval and generation techniques to improve AI capabilities.
